UAV Engineer Intern

 Aerial IQ India Pvt. Ltd. is an aerospace and defence technology company working in the unmanned aerial systems space. We design, develop, and deliver UAV and tethered drone solutions for surveillance, security, defence, law enforcement, and critical infrastructure applications.

We are looking for a UAV Engineer Intern to support the design, assembly, integration, testing, and development of unmanned aerial systems.

This is a hands-on engineering role suitable for candidates who are passionate about drones, aerospace systems, electronics, propulsion, flight controllers, sensors, and field testing. The intern will work closely with the engineering and production team on UAV hardware, flight testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.

Based on performance and company requirements, this internship may lead to a permanent role.

Responsibilities

  • Support UAV assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshootingssist in frame assembly, propulsion integration, wiring, sensors, payloads, and flight controller setup
  • Assist in frame assembly, propulsion integration, wiring, sensors, payloads, and flight controller setup
  • Support multirotor and fixed-wing UAV testing activities
  • Assist in ArduPilot / PX4 configuration, calibration, firmware flashing, and parameter testing
  • Help plan and execute flight test plans under supervision
  • Record test observations, issues, failures, and performance data
  • Support propulsion system selection, motor testing, ESC integration, and power system checks
  • Assist in sensor integration, payload mounting, and system-level validation
  • Support repair, servicing, replacement, and diagnostics of UAV components
  • Maintain engineering documentation, checklists, test reports, and QC records
  • Work with the team during field trials, demos, and production activities

Must Have

  • Ongoing or completed B.E. / B.Tech or equivalent technical degree
  • Strong interest in UAVs, drones, aerospace, robotics, or embedded systems
  • Basic understanding of UAV components, motors, ESCs, batteries, flight controllers, and sensors
  • Basic knowledge of ArduPilot or PX4
  • Ability to work hands-on with tools, wiring, assembly, and testing
  • Good problem-solving ability and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work from office / workshop / field location as required
  • Self-starter mindset suitable for a small engineering team
  • Clear communication and basic documentation skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with college aeromodelling, drone clubs, robotics clubs, or SAE teams
  • Basic piloting skills for multirotor or fixed-wing drones
  • Experience with soldering, crimping, wiring harnesses, or electronics assembly
  • Knowledge of embedded systems or Embedded C
  • Experience with 3D printing, CAD, materials, or rapid prototyping
  • Understanding of propulsion systems, thrust testing, or battery performance
  • Experience with field testing, flight logs, or UAV troubleshooting
  • Basic Excel / Google Sheets skills for test data and reports
